Offaly’s Tailteann Cup hopes have been hit by the loss of three key players to the US for the summer.
2021 All-Ireland U20FC winners Rory Egan and Jack Bryant are heading Stateside along with Bill Carroll, having informed interim manager Martin Murphy of their decision ahead of Sunday’s opening round-robin fixture against London. On the plus side, Jordan Hayes is back from a tour of duty with the Defence Forces, while the fit-again Keith O’Neill has also returned to the fold after committing to the U20s for the first part of the season.
“Jordan will come straight back in and Keith has joined us from the U20s. Jordan mightn’t figure against London, but he should figure after that. He’s a big, powerful, athletic lad who will add a new dimension. Keith will also bring something different to the attack,” Murphy told the Offaly Topic.
“Obviously, we’re disappointed to lose Rory, Jack and Bill for the rest of the season, but it gives others the opportunity to stand up and stake their place.”
