Clontibret opened their Monaghan SFC campaign with a fortunate 2-10 to 0-14 victory over Inniskeen on Sunday.
Two first half goals from Darragh Hughes laid the foundations for Clontibret’s win, but they had a lucky escape in the final minute when Inniskeen had a goal disallowed for ‘square ball’.
Elsewhere, Corduff recovered from the concession of a Jamie Mooney goal to edge out Cremartin 0-13 to 1-8, Scotstown were 0-12 to 0-7 winners over Ballybay, while a late Eddie Walsh point gave Killanny a dramatic 1-8 to 1-7 victory over Donaghmoyne.
