I agree with @NMR. Developing Dunganny would be a brilliant idea, loads of parking and accessibility, Most people in the county drive to games in HQ anyway, so few shuttle busses could be organised from the Mahonehys for the Navan residents. Imagine we had a big state of the art ground with a jumbo screen, proper seats, a bar, modern media spaces and corporate boxes etc. Not to mention that there is already lights idin Dunganny which gives it precedence over PT already. We could pay some of the expenses with the sale of PT. PT has to be one of the worst county grounds in the country with all the negligence over the years MartryMorrisey (Meath) - Posts: 19 - 21/10/2024 16:13:27 2576206 Link 0 |
What is the current status of the redevelopment? torres710 (Meath) - Posts: 27 - 23/10/2024 16:47:45 2576581 Link 0 |
The plans have been scaled down. Terrace left as is. Stand demolished, 5k all seater stand, floodlights and upgrades to the terrace which seem to only involve flattening the grass back to reduce the incline rather than making it concrete which I don't see the point of. A 5K stand and lights would be fantastic. The latest report I saw is that we aren't redeveloping it until we have the money so seems like we aren't going to be taking out any loan to get it done. As for Dunganny I would prefer if they could sort out a proper 4G pitch, a few trees and scoreboards that would be a start as is it not a good venue for games.

Thanks for this information! Have new plans been released of the scaled down project?

Not yet, it's at final design stage which is almost complete I believe, one would hope that money would stretch to possible terrace one of the goal ends for now and leace one for future work. Also I hear the toilets on the terrace side will be revamped before the NFL starts next year which is a most welcome bit of news.

i would definitly prioritise getting some cover before we demolish the stand, my first go to would be a roof on terrace that may cover 1/3 to 1/2 of area. How many sokings do people get on the terrace each spring at meath games? i dont think it would be huge money and span could be put in to cover 80% of patrons in a downpour at your average league game without the need for pillars put in. next i would go at the omahoneys end and terrace it but terrace it like hill 16 with high steps so seating could be bolted oon if e managed to get seats handy or free from likes of an english soccer ground being redeveloped, they would be perfect , a little stand like small championship or league one clubs have behind the goals. Then when you knock the stand patrons have shelter on the terrace and older folk could sit down in a covered stand behind the goals for a year or two when stand is built. dickie10 (UK) - Posts: 790 - 24/10/2024 22:44:41 2576784 Link 0 |
While the stand is knocked I presume won't be able to host home league games. Even if we did have some cover in the terrace, we'd still have no seats, no dressing rooms, no wheelchair facilities. Better to take that year or two without home games like Kildare did and put the money to best use. I'd prefer us to spend our money on facilities that will be there for the long term and not just stop gap

Pairc Tailteann not included in this year's Large Scale Sport Infrastructure Fund (LSSIF). Royalio11 (Meath) - Posts: 768 - 04/11/2024 13:43:23 2578329 Link 1 |
A warning to Meath GAA in yesterday's announcement of LSSIF grants. Those not using the money are at risk of it being reallocated. Use it or lose it. royal11 (Meath) - Posts: 102 - 05/11/2024 10:37:45 2578429 Link 0 |
That only refers to this year's allocations and not previous years.

Wonder why Meath didn't get any money for doing up Paic tailteann? The Colmcilles got €1 million torwards their new pitches.Im not having a pop at the Cilles but find it strange how they can get that much and pair tailteann didn't get anything?Anyone know why? They got just short of €8 million on a previous allocation, unsure if they went in again this time.

Cilles well organised not having a pop either but it must help having the minister of sport as a member of your club to put your application up the list of priorities. Another major development where they have their second pitch in seafield was allocated 2.3mn under the LSSIF for Laytown Utd & Athletics but given that GAA pitch is literally a field with two goalposts should benefit them too. I guess this will be put down as the cost of re-election

Probably but as you say, well organised and run club. Some very good administrators. As another poster said, Pairc Tailteann got money earlier rounds . Both Ministers had a say there I would imagine

Yeah im sure it helps alright having a minister in the club.i wonder if the Cilles will get Seafield as when they build the new pitches and still have Piltown would Eastern Gaels not get to use it as it would be a community space?Their pitch at the minute is on a flood plain and with the way water levels are rising would be even more prone to flooding in the future.
