I wanted to start a topic for the all important Cico sports all stars to get peoples predictions on who should be walking away with a prestigious All Star jersey to hang above the fire place. The nominees are as follows:
1 ● Dominic Yorke - Meath Hill ● Niall Flynn - Dunsany ● Ian Gillet - Skryne
2 ● Alex Smyth - Dunsany ● Darragh Smith - Kilmainhamwood ● Adrian Crawford - Wolfe Tones
3 ● Brian Dillon - Navan O'Mahonys ● Thomas Carolan - Meath Hill ● Shane Glynn - Wolfe Tones
4 ● Niall Byrne - Dunshaughlin ● Sean Ryan - St. Peter's Dunboyne ● James O'Connor - Carnaross
5 ● Killian Smyth - Castletown ● Shane Smyth - Skryne ● Ciaran McCarrick - Dunshaughlin
6 ● Adam O'Neill - Wolfe Tones ● Dylan Bagnall - St. Mary's ● Jamie Slavin - Meath Hill
7 ● Brendan McKeon - Ballivor ● Aodhan Mallon - Navan O'Mahonys ● Jared Rushe - Dunshaughlin
8 ● Ronan Jones - St Peter's Dunboyne ● Pauric O'Connor - Moynalty ● Michael McIvor - St Vincents
9 ● Harry Rooney - Skryne ● Conor Duke - Dunshaughlin ● Eoin Harkin - Dunsany
10 ● Cormac Sheehy - Meath Hill ● Saran O'Fionnagáin - Wolfe Tones ● Ben Corkery - Clann Na NGael
11 ● Ruairi Kinsella - Dunshaughlin ● Robbie Keelaghan - Navan O'Mahonys ● Daragh Campion - Skryne
12 ● Thomas O'Reilly - Wolfe Tones ● James Mooney - Meath Hill ● Adam Tuite - St Vincent's
13 ● Rian Stafford - Kilmainhamwood ● Gary Breslin - Meath Hill ● Aaron Farrelly - Simonstown
14 ● Luke Mitchell - Dunshaughlin ● Cian Rogers - Ratoath ● Paddy McDermott - Carnaross
15 ● Conor Frayne - Summerhill ● Daire Shine - Ballinlough ● Mathew Costello - Dunshaughlin
I would also be interested to hear who was unlucky to miss out on a nomination and the reasons for same. Personally I feel like there is a massive underrepresentation of players from Junior B championship.

The spread is Junior B with six nominations, Junior A with 7, Intermediate with 11 and senior with 21. Perhaps another nominee apiece from Junior A and B clubs and two more from Intermediate teams would have been a fairer spread. That said it stands to logic the teams playing the higher grade of football will rightly get more nominations than those playing a lower grade. Junior A and B players really have to stand out day in day out to have any chance of being considered. It may not be the fairest system on some individuals but I suppose it is the most reasonable one.

1. Dominic Yorke 2. Alex Smyth 3. Shane Glynn 4 .Niall Byrne 5. Killian Smith 6. Adam O Neill 7. Aodhan Mallon 8. Michael McIvor 9. Eoin Harkin 10. Saran O Fionnagain/Cormac Sheehy 11. Ruari Kinsella 12. Thomas O'Reilly 13. Gary Breslin 14. Paddy McDermott 15. Conor Frayne
Alex Smyth has been the best man marker i've seen at junior championship this year, Shane Glynn is just an expert in a 1v1 battle and showed it in the final with Mitchell not getting a touch of it in the first half. Niall Byrne also I felt was excellent for Dunshaughlin in his role. Killian Smith was castletowns best player all year, that day against Duleek in the group he was incredible one of the best performances i've seen from a player in a long time. Adam O'Neill rock solid as always and was excellent against Skyrne on Campion although campion was also brilliant. Aodhan Mallon is quality and an unbelievable work horse he for me is the second best player of the intermediate championship this season. Michael McIvor is worthy of his place with his excellent attacking play and scores from distance for St Vincent's this year, Eoin Harkin doesn't need any introduction just a level above the rest this year. The two wing forwards are open and a case to be made for everyone really. Saran and Cormac Sheehy were excellent this year would probably push towards saran with his performances and scores in crucial moments from open play, Thomas O'Reilly I thought was Wolfe Tones best player upfront, he is always on the ball, comfortable and picks up great scores with 7 against skyrne and 4 in the final I believe? James Mooney obviously worthy contender with his excellent work rate all over the field for Meath Hill and really stepped up in the final. Ruairi Kinsella is a cert for me at 11, unbelievable year and big player for dunshaughlin winning it out. Gary Breslin at 13 is another cert, just a brilliant footballer and really carried meath hill in the forward line without him in there they hadn't much attacking threat. 1-9 quarter final, 6 points semi final and 7 in the final i believe? Proper inside forward. Paddy McDermott was the main man in the forward line once again for Carnaross and 3 time top scorer of the week this year too? A handful to mark at any grade and didn't play his finest in the final but nontheless he was a massive part of Carnaros success this year so he gets my vote. 15 jersey is gonna be an argument but for me Conor Frayne was the showman for Summerhill this year in the senior grade, he was pure entertainment and a joy to watch with a bundle of skill and high scoring, probably the best forward in the senior grade this year but will Summerhill getting knocked out at quarter final stage prevent him from getting it? Definitely deserved it to me

Now this might sound a bit mental but here me out. Instead of a meaningless Regional all stars XV versus Meath Senior team game how about an all star clash between the club all stars and the regional all stars??? The winners each get a voucher for fuel or a butchers and every player gets some lovely new kit
Imagine the all stars weekend being a thing almost like a pre season camp for the county team (if only Butlins in Mosney was still open to the public ye could host it there) but like get both teams into a hotel on a friday night then the All star game in PT or Dungany on saturday with a big dinner and Robbie could come and give a big speech to address the supporters there and perhaps announce the panel & his captain etc. Would give the sponsors and supporters something to look forward to in December and the panel get some nice momentum and any new players from the club or regional all stars would be able to get to know other players and the management they might not have ever spoken to. Ye might call me crazy but if you look at the success of all stars weekend in the NBA or NFL it should be something we consider

Yea i get that but the names in front of him have carried a team at a higher grade for me and they have excelled, young Farrelly for Simonstown is a serious prospect think he is only 18 or 19 finishing as the clubs top scorer. Mitchell gave Dunshaughlin the platform to do something in the latter stages of championship, was unplayable against Ratoath. Conor Frayne one of the hottest forwards in the county. Based on that i picked my 13-15 who are all playing knockout Senior football.

Mitchell had a good 10 mins against Ratoath and wasn't seen for the rest of the game, and was no-existent in the semi and the final. Conor Frayne is a decent forward, but hottest in the count is a stretch. I get your point that they are playing at a higher grade but McDermott from Carnaross was hand down more important to his team than either Mitchell or Rogers, and while he was as dominant as I would have liked him to be, Costello was far more important for Dunshaughlin than Frayne for Summerhill, he popped up with big scores when needed in the group and knockout stages as well.

Take your point, but as I said Gary Breslin was absolutely the best player in the Intermediate Championship this year, and it's not even close. Was at a few games, and I was really impressed with him
Scored 1-9 in the 1/4 final, including 1-7 from play, scored 0-6 in the semi final, was largely injured in the final and still managed 6 points (4 from play).
If that's not having an impact and dragging your team over the line, what is? He's also only about 23 or so too .
Plus your argument goes out the window when you say: "the names in front of him have carried a team at a higher grade," when Eoin Harkin is in there.
I get your selections are based on who's nominated per position, so you can only pick one but Breslin is absolutely going to be picked.

Lavin and Shane Glynn were the best inside markers in the county this year by a country mile. Its pointless coming up with these teams if you are just going to mix Junior B players in with Senior players. They aren't comparable.

Do you honestly think this is an accurate award? If you have a good PRO then you club lads will be picked. I often listen to the POD cast and all they are saying is what the PRO wrote in there report on HS. OK some of the game that they cover are there own views but they cant be everywhere and they end up contacting some of the players and some of the stuff is not at all accurate. Lads are getting a mention that are not even playing, some lads are taking the **** to see who will get the bigger wind up. If I were them I'd be considering a different approach.
