PT Entry Fee

(Oldest Posts First)

The weekend before last I attended the Ratoath v Wolfe Tones game in Pairc Tailteain with my wife and daughter. My daughter is 18. We were charged €45 (€15 each)- my daughter was deemed to no longer be a juvenile! I should have said she was 17!! - €2 for parking and €5 for a program. The match was dire, although the weather was awful, and as we all know the seating isn't exactly comfortable in PT.

Yesterday I was in Nowlan Park in Kilkenny for the Ballyhale, Dicksboro game - a real cracking match - and the great TJ Reid made two incredible saves at the end to get Ballyhale across the line!! (Dicksboro look like the next big thing to come out of Kilkenny - a young team playing lovely hurling!!)

Anyway, the cost to get in was €10 - It was a double header - The James Stephens Ballycallan game was also on - just caught the end of that! The program was €2 and the program covered all the games over the weekend!! I got parking on the road - no hassle!! The stadium is good and seating far better than Navan!

Anyone else think €15 is a bit steep for PT?

For the quality of football we churn out, €15 is too much. Throw the shtate of PT into the mix, the county board should be paying the spectators to attend.

A few years there was a charge of €5 for championship games in the group stage and I would have gone to 3-4 games every weekend. I only ever go to my own club's games now. I wouldn't have thought the costs of staging games has doubled but the cost of getting to them has.

I'm trying to put together an argument to go to Navan on Sunday, but I'm struggling.

1. Last year's game (same fixture) was almost unwatchable.
2. Semi-finals this year were almost unwatchable.
3. Over-priced.
4. It's on TG4 so I can dip in and out of it there.

In the end the tradition of going will probably drag me along, but it's a hard sell.

Cost is always a factor, especially if you have to travel a distance as I do for every game I go to club or county, I intend driving down for the final on Sunday and I presume it will be €20 minimum admission, I know money has to be made and the county finals are the local breadwinner however I would change the pricing in terns of coveted and uncovered stand and terracing etc, a general admission price I do feel is somewhat unfair given the facilities we have in PT at present (hopefully not for much longer). Wouldn't a €10 admission to the terrace be a good incentive to bring a crowd and maybe €15 on the stand? OAP and students at €10 and all U14 free, attractive pricing will certainly draw more neutral supporters

OK so I just see now that it's €20 general admission and €10 for student/OAP buy on the day and U16 are free, all things taken into consideration that's not bad for a SFC final, ok I still might lower the terrace admission but as I say that not bad at all
