Meath Vs Down

Replying To The_Ripper:  "I actually thought the attendance was fine for the brutal time it was at and the awkward venue. It was great that the crowd got behind them and helped push them over the line. It's a very slow rebuilding job and I think 'backs to the wall' wins like that will help grow the relationship between players and supporters return. Look talking about clowns who wouldn't even listen to a Tailteann Cup match on the radio is pointless. We all know there are too many pampered 'supporters' who want to hark back to the glory days so leave them be. The reality is no Meath man, woman or child wants to be playing at this level but we all need to push on together and stop the negativity.

It was positive that we looked defensively sound. Yes Down had many wides but some were due to poor shot selection based on the wall we put in front of them. I thought James McEntee was excellent and was constantly looking to make things happen. Jones got through a huge amount of work as ever and Morris showed his class any time he got the ball. Keoghan and Harnan showed good leadership and O'Connor really took the game to Down albeit his shot selection at times was questionable. Great impact off the bench and McGowan's big boot was the difference in the end. Not sure what's the best way to utilise Costello but there's definitely more in him. All in all, while there's nobody saying it was vintage stuff, it is something to build on and a big morale boost to all involved to get a win from their first real test in the competition."
The win will hopefully inject some confidence into team who have being through a rough patch of late and the extended season will stand to all concerned, allowing them get over the early exit from Leinster. Think they may get more from this in the long run and expect to see an improved team by next years league. Agree we need to get more from Costello, while he was ok, the game did seem to pass him by and no doubt there is much more to him. James Mac looked sharper and looked to get involved at every chance. There was a better shape to team and its always a positive when subs make such a big impact. One o clock was a poor time, however, start time was to suit us getting over to CP to see hurlers. So not a bad crowd who got behind team. Overall a good days work and keeps the inteest going well into June and hopefully beyond.

Hopefully we get Offaly. In the previous game we kind of left it behind us with the display in the first half. Cavan look the best team in the competition by a bit, we probably look marginally the best of the rest.

Yeah I'd like offaly at home.

Just to see the difference in 8 weeks or so. I know offaly have regressed a little since, but I'd expect a huge difference between both games.
