Ladies Jun G FC: Nobber's fine form continues

Nobber 3 – 9 (18) Castletown 1 – 4 (7)

Nobber Ladies Adult Team continued their fine form on Sunday evening last picking up their second victory in a row in their championship campaign against local rivals Castletown. Spectators were treated to an entertaining game of football and the home support went home happy in the end. Played under the lights, the pitch was in fine condition. The black and ambers certainly had their shooting boots on and this was mainly thanks to team captain Eleanor Gallagher, midfield maestro Louise Mulligan, and lively wingback Noelle Hanna chipping in with his score early on.

The Deesiders were busy in defence at times but goalkeeper Erin McCormack and Sarah Monaghan showed great determination and leadership in pushing the Nobber team forward at every opportunity. The black and ambers scored two impressive goals in the first half through centre forward Niamh Owens, and full forward Marie Smith.

Half-time – Nobber 2 – 7 (13) Castletown 1 – 2 (5)

Team management would have been happy with Nobber’s performance in the first half and the ladies backed this up once again in the second period. However, on the scoreboard both teams were not as productive in the second half. Nobber battled well with further scores from Owens in the 31st minute and Gallagher on the 38th minute. To be fair to Castletown they kept fighting and battling but Nobber had too much for them in the end. Owens capped off a fine display by rattling the back of the net in the 52nd minute to the joy of the home support.

Very good team performance. Best were Sarah Monaghan, Noelle Hanna, Louise Mulligan and Niamh Owens.
