Shane O'Brien in action for Navan O'Mahony's against Drumree

Navan O’Mahony’s 0-11
Drumree 0-14

O’Mahony’s bowed out of the Junior HC with a narrow loss to Drumree in warm conditions on Friday evening, having held the lead at half time.

O’Mahony’s had most of the possession for the opening minutes but it was Drumree who got the first score of the match. Diarmuid Collins drew the sides level before the hosts went narrowly ahead again.

More scores from Collins left O’Mahony’s with a narrow 0-05 to 0-04 lead before points from play from Thomas Cully and Pat Nolan extended the lead to three. Both sides added a further score before half time with O’Mahony’s going in with a three point lead.

Drumree hit the first few scores of the second half and after ten minutes, had drawn level. A few minutes later, they narrowly took the lead, albeit there was never more than a puck of a ball between the sides. Collins was O’Mahony’s sole scorer in the second half, hitting three points.

O’Mahony’s full back line proved difficult to penetrate, with Colm O’Toole and Diarmuid Keyes on plenty of possession also along with the midfield duo of Thomas Cully and Daithi Wade.

In the final minutes, a point separated the sides and when Drumree extended this to two, O’Mahony’s were left chasing a goal. The score came at the wrong end of the field from an O’Mahony’s perspective and O’Mahony’s second string hurlers season comes to an end for 2026.
