SHC B: Dunderry back on track

August 17, 2026

Dunderry's Jamie Leavy with O'Mahony's keeper John Foley during the SHC B round 3 clash at Trim

Dunderry 1-16 Navan O'Mahony's 0-11

Timber Leavy had to shuffle things around due to nasty injurys to Conor Dempsey and Liam Coogan. Conor Leavy was deployed on the edge of the square and Ciarán O Brien got the nod on the half forward line beside the returning Luke Martyn.

Adam Kelly was first to handle the sliothar from the throw in and he laid down a marker by splitting the posts on the run. From the restart he was fouled and Evan Nolan drilled over the resulting free.

Navan point from play before Nolan hits his second free after Luke Martyn was dragged back.  Navan keep in touch again from play. Good hassle from Duffy and Crinion got the ball out to Barron who blasted over. Nolan pointed his third  free to put his side 0-5 to 0-2 to the good.

In fairness to the town team they hit the next four, two from play and two frees and it was game on with 15mis gone.

Jamie Leavy and Evan Nolan combined well and passed out to Crinion who offloaded to the imposing Cathal Barron who told the Navan lads that we want this more than you do by rattling the net in style.

Crinion was involved again soon after and when he was pulled down Nolan was on hand to slot over the free. A 65 was next for Evan before Navan hit a free to keep in touch.

Crinion and Duffy were working hard in the middle of the field and set Barron free, but alas he was pulled down. Nolan taps over.

A point from a free and one from play had the deficit down to two but when Luke Martyn was fouled and Nolan converted , the score board read 1-09 to 0-9 at the interval.

The second half started with chances for the black and whites but it was the team in blue that opened the scoring in the second half with a free.

Good work from Barron freed up Crinion who was fouled. Nolan once more.

More of the same for Dunderry with Kelly and O Brien combining and winning another free for Evan to convert.

Next was the winning of the game. It started with Loughran intersecting, passing to McHale, to Duffy and finally to Barron who pointed brilliantly on the run off the hurley. A fine score.  Nolan turned the screw another thread or two, hitting a brace of frees and a 65.

Barron bommed home another fine point after Darragh Fay was fouled in the full back line and Fagan struck the resulting free to Barron who topped off a superb performance.

O'Mahonys could only manage a free before the whistle was blown for full time 1-16 to 0-11

An important win for the Village who can now go forward confident in their ability.
