Moylagh 2-19 to Gaeil Colmcille 2-10

Moylagh and Gaeil Colmcille met in the Division 5 League Final in a very well presented Cortown venue with the Kells side defending their unbeaten run in the league.

When the sides met earlier in the League it was Benny Reddy's outfit that went home with the victory.

However a dominant first half display by Moylagh saw them lay the foundation for what would eventually see the men in green and white crowned Division 5 champions for 2026.

The first few minutes were nip and tuck before Moylagh powered on to a half time lead of 2-13 to Gaeil Colmcille 1-5 thanks to scores from J. McGee, S. Reilly, P Kevin, S Gibney, and T O'Reilly with Harry Butler contributing all of his team's first half scores.

The expected reaction from Gaeil Colmcille was evident from the start of the second half, and by mid way through the half the deficit was reduced to just 6 points thanks to a Moylagh penalty save quickly followed by a Kells counter attack that ended with the ball blazed to the back of the Moylagh net.

Kells emptied their bench in an attempt to claw back the game but as the game entered the final quarter, it was Peadear Byrne's team took control again and slotted over 6 points to finish on a score line of Moylagh 2-19 to Gaeil Colmcille 2-10.

This was an entertaining game of football with great credit to both sides for the quality of football played and both teams can look forward to Division 4 league football next year.

The large Moylagh support saw captain, Sean Reilly, recieve the Division 5 Cup from Tony McEntee.
