Kilmainhamwood 3-23 Simonstown 0-7
Kilmainhamwood made the relatively short trip to the outskirts of Navan on Friday evening to face Simonstown.
Kilmainhamwood on this occasion were quickest out of the traps 3 quick fire points from Brian Cassidy, Darragh Smith and Shane Townley. Kilmainhamwood were all over Simonstownfrom the start and had plenty of good scoring chances go wide. Shane Townley lifted a green flag after rifling a shot of the stanchion- this helped the Wood find their groove and pile on more scores on the board and more misery on the Simonstowndefensive effort. From this point to half time there was another goal from Brian Cassidy, scores from Noah Madden, an excellently taken 2 pointer from Killian Russell. Joe Shankey and Shane Townley again adding scores before the small whistle at half time. Kilmainhamwood defense dealt well with the limited threat Simonstown had posed.
Half Time: Kilmainhamwood 2-13 Simonstown 0-3
The second half understandably enough was slow enough to kick into life. Brian Cassidy opened the scoring in the second half. This was followed by 2 well taken scores from Matthew Vaughan. Darragh Smith marauded forward on a few occasions and was rewarded with a goal and a point to his name. Aaron O Donnell who was introduced at half time put a nice point to his name after a well played team move. Shane Townley added a further 2 pointer and another free to his tally to finish out the game on the evening.
