Castletown's Daniel Moran

Castletown 3-18 Kilbride 0-9

Castletowns Division 8 men were out in action on Saturday evening as we welcomed Kilbride to the pitch for their round 3 clash on a gorgeous sunny afternoon.

It was a game of two halves with a close 1st half followed by a dominant 2nd half by Castletown to eventually run out 18 point winners. A Castletown team with a great mixture of some of our upcoming young stars mixed with some of our hardworking veterans who together performed brilliantly on the day in tough condittions.

Castletown were the quickest off the mark with the first score of the game coming in just the 4th minute from wing back Conall Sheridan. A further two points from Tommy Smith and Michael McGarry by the 7th minute really set the tone. Kilbride got their first of the game with a good score from play but was cancelled out almost immediately by a point from play from Daniel Moran who put on a brilliant display all game. Michael McGarry got his second of the day a minute later to leave it 4 between the sides with less than 12 minutes gone. Kilbride however found their stride and got the next 3 scores (1 free) unanswered within 3 minutes to leave it just the bare minimum between the sides. A Castletown point from Rian Monaghan followed by 2 more Kilbride points left the sides level at 21 minutes. A goal game on the 23rd minute when a Castletown 45 was kept in on the end line by McGarry who passed it off to Paul Bellew who brilliantly fired the ball to the back of the Kilbride net. A further point from play from Rian Monaghan, Barry Smith and one for Kilbride left 4 between the sides at the break.

Half time score: Castletown 1-8 Kilbride 0-7

Castletown picked up the second half exactly as they ended the first half with a point from a free from Dan Moran inside a minute of the restart. Moran continued the great momentum by bagging himself a further 1-1 all within the next 3 minutes which really set the tone for Castletowns 2nd half to come .Conall Sheridan got his 2nd point of the day from play which was just second later followed up by Bellews 2nd goal of the day which really gave Castletown the breathing space with a 13 point lead now. Barry Smith who work tirelessly throughout the game, struck the ball beautifully to send over the games 1st 2 pointer and quickly followed up with another point from play. A completely dominant 3rd quarter continued into the final 15 minutes with Rian Monaghan getting Castletowns 2nd 2 pointer of the day on the stroke of 45 minutes.
