FL Div 11: Cortown go top after hard earned victory

April 28, 2026

Cortown's Elliot Reilly

Kilmainhamwood 2-07
Cortown 1-12

Cortown second string went top of Football League Division 11 with a hard earned victory on the road in Kilmainhamwood on Saturday evening.

Conditions were the polar opposite to the previous month when referee Peter Skelly was forced to call off the game a matter of minutes before throw-in due to deluge of rain.

The visitors lead by three at the break with the returning Elliot Reilly raising a green flag to give Cortown a 1-6 to 1-3 half time advantage.

Kilmainhamwood found a second goal early in the second half but Davy Wright's charges came good with young guns Jake Coyne and Kian Fitzsimons pointing the way. Substitute Conor Mulroe added the insurance score late on to send his side top after three games.
