
Kildalkey 3-23 Kilmessan 1-18
Kildalkey welcomed Kilmessan to Fr Plunkett Park on Sunday morning for Round 3 of the Div 1HL in perfect conditions and came away with the 2 points to remain unbeaten.
Nicky Potterton continued his rich vein of form and was a constant threat from both play and frees top scoring with 3-8 while Conor Kearney only back from injury also put in a big performance hitting 7 points from play.
Conor Kearney hit 4 of the first 5 points with Kelvin Lynch getting the other as he was proving a real handful at Full forward Kilmessan responded and got in for a few points themselves to keep in touch.
Nicky Potterton converted 3 frees in a row as Kearney struck again for his fifth of the day.
Paddy Coneely and Kevin McKeon also scored and with time almost up and halftime approaching Nicky had a close in free that looked like a routine tap over but saw a gap to rifle to the corner of the net and that left his team 1-13 to 0-9 in front at the break.
Kevin Mckeon scored his second point to kick start Kildalkey and Potterton struck for another goal after turning his man to push his team further in front Paddy Barnwell hit a trademark long range point and Potterton struck again for goal number 3 .To their credit Kilmessan never gave in and tagged on a few more points and a goal But Kearney Luke Rickard and Coneely with the last 2 points of the game sealed a good win for the hosts as they move on to Round 4 in 2 weeks time .
Kildalkey had good displays from Brin Kelly, Cian Colhoun, Paddy Barnwell and Niall McNally in defence while Potterton, Kearney and Conneely were brilliant up front
