HL Div 2: Depleted Kildalkey lose out to Killyon

The sun shone in Kildalkey on Saturday evening as the hosts went down to a stronger Killyon team to get some bit of revenge for the Brendan Davis Cup final defeat in this Division 2 round 3 game.

Kildalkey's second string were short a number of players through injury but matched their senior counterparts for most of the first half and only trailed by 2 points 1-7 to 2-6 at the break. Young Paddy Casey hit 1-2 from full forward while Mattie Cully got 2 frees. Shay Diggins Jamie Kavanagh and Ben Rickard were the other scorers in the half while Cian McGourty Eddie Dunne Darragh Ryan and Mark Hand were playing well in defence.

However the more experienced Killyon took a grip of the game at the start of the second half and tagged on a string of points to boss affairs to win out in the end by 2-18 to 1-11. Cully with 3 and Conor Barnwell getting the Kildalkey scores in the second half as they never gave up but the better team won in the end.
