Gaeil Colmcille 3-16 Dunshaughlin 0-10

Gaeil Colmcille capitalised on opponents Dunshaughlin's under strength team as a first half showing which included three goals paved the way to give the Kells men the two points on offer in the A League Division 1.

Kells got off to the perfect start after a well worked move, Oisin Reilly laid the ball off to Liam Barry who made no mistake to blast to the back of the net. The home side responded with two points in quick succession but they would be the last scores for Dunshaughlin for twenty minutes as with the aid of the breeze Gaeil Colmcille opened up a sizeable lead.

A brilliant individual goal from Adam Donnelly in the 13th minute saw Kells lead by 4. A Dan Farrelly point was followed by a point from wing forward Conor Óg Fergsuon. Ógie's older brother Liam outdid Conor and struck over a two pointer in the 17th minute extended the lead to eight points. Brian Hanlon hit a second two pointer for The Gaeils and a left footed effort from Adam Muldoon sailed over the bar.

Liam Barry added a point to his earlier goal and in the 26th minute Liam Ferguson struck Kells third goal of the game. Kells biggest lead of the game came in the 28th minute when Hanlon added a further point to see the lead reach 16 points. Dunshaughlin did get the final score of the half but they trailed 0-03 to Kells 3-09.

Kells Man of the Match Conor Óg grabbed his second score of the game and the first of the half with the youngster putting in a tremendous show of athleticism and fielding throughout the game. A Dunshaughlin two pointer was cancelled by points from Hanlon and Evan Sheridan. Both sides shared the next four points with Farrelly getting his second of the game and if Gaeil Colmcille were in any dount that today was their day, Full Back Rian Early got in on the act and showed the forwards how its done by grabbing a point.

Dunshaughlin added a few scores but it was Kells substitutes Charlie Twomey and Fionn Smith that finished off the scoring for Kells and ensure the two points headed back up the M3.
