Moynalvey made it two wins from as many outings in the PMC Physiotherapy Div. 9 league with a comprehensive victory over St. Vincents in this Div. 9 round 3 game played at Kilmore Park Moynalvey on Monday evening 20th April.

Moynalvey 3-20
St. Vincents 0-7

Having had a bye in round two, Moynalvey backed up their opening round victory over Blackhall Gaels four week sago with this comfortable win over visitors St. Vincents on Monday evening.

Owing to a clash of club colours, St. Vincents lined out in their alternative white jersey while Moynalvey wore their traditional maroon jersey.

It was the visitors St. Vincents who were first to trouble the score keeper with a point from Kevin McEnerney in the 6th minute. Moynalvey opened their account two minutes later when the impressive Luke O’Halloran sent over the first of his four points.

Evan Drum opened his account in the 9th minute following a turnover in defence by Cillian Kelly, with St. Vincents replying three minutes later through Richard O’Sullivan to draw the sides level again, 0-2 apiece, with twelve minutes played.

The game’s first goal arrived in the 13th minute when a shot at goal by Paul Corcoran was initially saved only for the ball to dribble over the line off a defender. Corcoran’s goal was followed up by a point by Sean Duggan before the game’s second green flag was raised when a Barry Walsh shot at goal was parried by St. Vincents ‘keeper Cathal Tallon but for Matt Brennan to finish the rebound to the net with a volley, 2-3 to 0-2 with seventeen minutes gone.

A point from St. Vincents full forward Richard O’Sullivan meant the two goals remained between the sides, 2-3 to 0-3.

Moynalvey’s James Kelly and Luke O’Halloran sent over points either side of a Darragh Connor effort for the visitors, leaving the score board read 2-5 to 0-4 with five minutes of the first half remaining.

Evan Drum and Richard O’Sullivan traded points before a brace from Matt Brennan and Sean Duggan rounded off the first half scoring to leave it 2-8 to 0-5 when referee Noel Reilly blew his half time whistle.

Moynalvey continued as they left off with five unanswered points in the opening eleven minutes of the second half from half time substitute Aaron Sweeney, James Kelly (2), Evan Drum and Luke O’Halloran to make it 2-13 to 0-5.

A pair of St. Vincents points in the 42nd and 53rd minutes temporarily halted Moynalvey’s scoring, but that was as good as it got for the visitors as these points proved to be their final scores of the evening.

Moynalvey added a further 1-7 unanswered in the final ten minutes, points from James Kelly, Luke O’Halloran, Aaron Sweeney (2), Barry Walsh, the game’s only two pointer from Sean Duggan and the added bit of gloss on the score line with a second Paul Corcoran goal to leave it 3-20 to 0-7 at full time.
