Castletown 2-17 Curraha 0-7

Castletown got back to winning ways in round 4 of the league as we welcomed Curraha to the pitch on Saturday evening. A perfect evening for football seen us run out 16 point winners.

Castletown were the quickest off the mark with the first score of the game coming in just the 2nd minute from centre back Eoin Reid. Over the spell of the first 20 minutes Castletown registered another 3 points while keeping Curraha scoreless. A well worked score coming from Daniel Moran, Daragh Weldon and Kevin Ross all from play. On the 20th minute Curraha registered their first point of the game which was quickly followed up by another just 30 seconds later to leave just 2 within the sides. However that would be the only scores Curraha got in the first half, as Castletown went on to dominate the rest of the opening half. Sean McKeown got a brilliant point from play on 21 minutes with his signature breaking at speed from defence from a turnover to pop the bar over the bar. The remaining scores of the game coming from Daragh Weldon (0-2 1f), Kevin Ross and Rian McConnell leaving the gap at 7 points at the break.

Half time score: Castletown 0-9 Curraha 0-2

Rian McConnell picked up the second half exactly as he ended the first half, with another point from play inside a minute of the restart. Daragh Weldon and Kevin Ross who both had brilliant games, both added to their tally with a point each by the 34th minute to leave 10 points between the sides. Curraha however as expected got their purple patch and got the next 3 scores unanswered  (1 free) to bring it back to 7 points with 18 minutes remaining. Up steps Adam Matthews with an all important goal from a quick thinking ball from Dan Moran on the 45th minute to regain the 10 point lead. Daragh Weldon continued to cause the Curraha defence some headaches and registered the next 3 consecutive scores (2 frees) to leave it 13 between the sides on 48 minutes. Kevin Ross chipped in with his final score of the game with another fantastic score from play beating multiple Curraha men. Curraha againdidn'tt drop the heads and continued battling hard with some great spells of football coming from both teams. Curraha got their final 2 score from play on the 57th and 58th minute. These however were immediately cancelled out merely 30 seconds later when substitute Declan Cribbin blasted the ball to the back of the Curraha net having only been on the pitch 2 minutes.
