Donaghmore Ashbourne and Summerhill gave an entertaining display in Summerhill on Saturday evening with the home sides ability to raise the green flag at crucial points in the game the difference between the sides 

Kevin Cully opened the scoring in the first minute with a well taken two pointer and Donaghmore Ashbourne extended the lead on 6 minutes with a Darragh Mc Govern point from play. Despite the game going from end to the there were no other scores for the remainder of the opening quarter.

A Summerhill goal on 18 minutes to bring parity was followed by two quick unanswered point to see the home side lead by two. At the other end Donaghmore Ashbourne had two goal chances with a Kevin Fenton shot scrambled off the line on 23 minutes and with the Evan Keelly bearing down on goal on 26 minutes he was dispossessed with a last-ditch tackle as a goal looked on.    

The closing minutes of the half saw Donaghmore Ashbourne outscore the home side with points from Michael O’Sullivan, Andrew Tormey, Jamie Browne and Luke Barrett and a white flag raised by Summerhill as the sides were level at the interval on a scoreline of 1-04 to 0-07 

Summerhill started the second period with three unanswered points before Kevin Fenton replied with a point on 35 minutes and Andrew Tormey reduced the deficit with a free on 40 minutes. 

Summerhill extended their lead with a point on 42 minutes, a goal a minute later and this was followed by another point from play and a converted 2-two pointer free by the Summerhill keeper.  Donaghmore Ashbourne did reply with a converted free from Andy Colgan on 49 minutes

Three late frees from Tormey (2) and Zack Thornton were not enough to reduce the deficit, and the home side claimed the points.
