Navan O’Mahony’s 7-22
Simonstown Gaels 1-12
Denise McGrath and Ailbe Leahy led the way in this very high-scoring match in Paddy O’Brien Park, with both players finding the net on multiple occasions.
Simonstown got off to a good start, and led by 1-01 to a point after four minutes. Chloe Duffy equalised with a goal in the sixth minute. By the twentieth minute, points from Duffy, Emma Sheridan and Lilly Dwyer and McGrath’s first goal left O’Mahony’s six ahead. Leahy’s first goal came quickly afterwards and ten points separated the sides at half time, with Leahy’s second green flag on the cusp of half time.
McGrath and Milly Clarke Carolan were quick to get O’Mahony’s going again in the second half, extending the lead to twelve before Leahy ended it as a contest with a thirty-fourth minute goal.
Both sides kept the umpires busy for the remainder of the match, but the gap at this stage was too much for Simonstown to make up and O’Mahony’s were comfortable winners in the end.
