Kilbeg N.S. 2-4
Dunderry N.S. 0-5
Kilbeg picked up their first Girls title with this five point win over Dunderry in the Division 4/5 Shield Final. Like Boyerstown in the opening game they lost last year's final.
The winners laid the foundation for victory in the opening half and led at the break 2-2 to 0-1. Chloe Farrelly registered 1-1 in the opening ten minutes and another green flag from Una Uradnikova gave the team in Red and Black a seven point cushion.
Dunderry enjoyed more success in front of goal in the second half and but for an outstanding display from Kilbeg keeper Hazel O’Connor they could have taken something from this game.
Abbie Jackson extended the Kilbeg lead with the opening score of the second half but a brace from Emma McGuinness and Lexie Hyland narrowed the gap. With O’Connor repelling attack after attack and a much needed point from Uradnikova, Kilbeg went on to claim their first ever title.
Joint captains Kaylah Weldon and Kate Crosby received the Division 4/5 Shield after the game.
