Mulhussey N.S. 9-9
Kilskyre N.S. 9-2
Mulhussey ended a 22 year wait for a Cumann na mBunscol Girls football title after this thrilling win over a very talented Kilskyre side (who were appearing in their first ever decider) in the Girls Division 5 final.
The main talking point from the 4th game of the day was the performances from Mulhussey’s Holly Fagan and Ruby Farrell Kilskyre. Fagan finished the 40 minutes of football with 7-7 while at the other end of the pitch Farrell found the opposition's net on eight occasions.
Goals from Farrell (5) and Emma Lydon gave the North Meath school a 6-0 to 3-5 half time lead. Fagan registered 3-5 in the opening 20 minutes for the winners. Mulhussey were in front in the opening eight minutes of the second half after goals from Tara Fagan, Holly Fagan and Lauren Dalton. Farrell, despite being double marked, raised another three green flags and with seven minutes remaining only a goal separated the teams, 8-6 to 9-1. Fagan added another 1-2 and along with a point from Dalton the title was heading to Mulhussy.
Captain Eloise Butler received the Division 5 cup to the delight of their large following.
