Navan O’Mahony’s 5-11 Kilmainhamwood 0-06
Navan O’Mahony’s claimed the Junior F title with a convincing win in Grangegodden on Sunday afternoon. Genevieve Dorrigan led the way with a player-of-the-match performance and coming away with 3-02 to her name.
After six scoreless minutes, Lauren Skelly opened the scoring with a point from play before Dorrigan found the net four minutes later. She then added a point before Kilmainhamwood scored for the first time. Two points in quick succession from Kilmainhamwood reduced the gap to three.
With five minutes remaining in the half, Dorrigan found the net again. The sides exchanged scores for the remainder of the half with Amy Betson and Caoimhe Cullen finding scores for O’Mahony’s.

With a strong wind behind them in the second half, O’Mahony’s had the momentum going into the second half. Kilmainhamwood pointed for the first time within ninety seconds before Emma Sheridan responded in turn for O’Mahony’s.
There was long periods where both sides failed to score but Skelly and Charlie Coogan added points to keep the scoreboard moving. With ten minutes remaining, Dorrigan completed her hat-trick before Lauren Cooney pointed from play twice in a row.
Isabel Prior and Kayla Chambers also added to the scoring. A late attempt at goal from Kilmainhamwood was denied by great defensive work from Aileen Falahee and netminder Emily Costello.
The final score of the game came from Coogan who raised a green flag. In addition to the scorers, O’Mahony’s were well served throughout the pitch and a strong team performance. Katie O’Brien, Caoilin Smith, Anna Killoran, Holly McKeigue and Eva Roe were impressive in the backs while Aisling McElwaine put in a great shift at midfield.
Captain Caoimhe Cullen accepted the trophy on behalf of her team.
