St. Colmcilles saved their best performance of the season with this comfortable win over a disappointing Meath Hill side in the Senior Football Championship relegation final on Pitch 2 at Dunganny.

The winners dominated from the start. Ben Brennan opened their account. David Bell doubled their tally from a free and that lead was out to four after the first of three two pointers from the excellent Cilles keeper Andrew Beakey. Gary Breslin kept last years IFC winners in it with a brace but by the break St. Colmcilles led 0-9 to 0-3.

The outcome of this game was decided in the opening minutes of the second half when full forward Aaron Grant raised the games only free flag. By the end of the third quarter Paul Kelleher’s men were 11 points in front. Meath Hill kept going and were rewarded with another Breslin brace and one from Mark Tully before the biggest cheer of the day came after club stalwart Graham Reilly sent over the last score of the game.
