Castletown 1-13 St.Michaels 2-10
Castletown and St Michaels played out an exciting draw in this IFC Group C first round encounter played in excellent conditions in Moynalty.
St Michael's opened up the scoring with a point from play on the second minute with Rian Mc Connell equalising also from play with 5 minutes on the clock. A Kevin Ross free on 7 minutes was cancelled out a minute later by a St Michaels goal from play. After a five minute scoreless spell Rian McConnell converted a penalty he had been awarded for a foul inside the large parallelogram for Castletown to lead by 1 point . Points were swapped but Castletown finished the half stronger and led by 1-6 to 1-3 at the halftime whistle even though they were without Seamus Doherty for the last 10 minutes of the half due the a black card .
Castletown started the second half on the front foot and went into a six point lead. But St.Michaels replied with a well worked goal to half the deficit. Daniel Moran scored a point from play but on 50 minutes Seamus recieved a yellow card to go with his first half black to leave Castletown down to 14 for the second time in the game. St Michael's then had their period of dominance which included two 2 pointers to lead by one point in the 53rd minute. With the clock turning 60 minutes St.Michaels were up by one but Kevin Ross equalised in the 65th minute to rescue a draw for Castletown.
