A completely different evenings weather on Friday evening in Kildalkey saw the sun shine as opposed to the non stop rain on Thursday in Athboy for the senior game as the hosts went down by 8 points to a determined and skillfull Drumree side who were full value for their win in this Division 2 HL Round 6 fixture.
Drumree led by 0-12 to 0-8 at halftime as Mattie Cully David Harmon Kelvin Lynch and James Cully hit the Kildalkey points and some fine saves from Paul Fagan kept the blues in the game.
Drumree didn’t let up in the second half and some fine freetaking from Evan Curley kept them in front as he punished any Kildalkey indiscipline.
From a Kildalkey point of view the second half belonged to James Cully as he added another 1-5 to his tally with some great skillfull efforts to keep his side in the game.
But Drumree always seemed to keep their noses in front and a late goal sealed the win as the game finished on a score line of Drumree 1-25 Kildalkey 1-17.
Our last game is against Kilskyre/ Moylagh next weekend.
