Mark Allen St. Ultans

St Brigids 0-12 St Ultans 0-13

A Mark Allen point deep into injury time secured two valuable points for St Ultans in Ballinacree.

The home side started much the better despite playing against the wind and led by five points to two after fifteen minutes with the visitors efforts coming from Tom Brennan and Lee Hennessy. Ultans tightened up at back and kept their opponents scoreless while Conor Finnegan scored four two pointers, two from frees and two monster points from play from outside the large arc to leave Ultans leading by double scores at the break.

Scores were going to be difficult to come by into the wind, Brigid’s opened the scoring with a point but a Conor Finnegan free kept the lead at five. Ultans missed two good goal chances but their defence limited the damage but Brigids slowly closed the gap. Cian McBride rose high to claim an attacking mark and converted this for a point to leave Ultans up by three with seven minutes remaining. Brigid’s pushed hard  and drew level two minutes into injury time. The next kickout was crucial as it was likely to be the last attack of the games and Ultans won it and created a chance for Mark Allen who converted to secure victory.
