Wolfe Tones 0-21 Donaghmore Ashbourne 1-14
Wolfe Tones claimed their first Feis Cup title with this four point win over holders Donaghmore Ashbourne played at Páirc Tailteann.
The Moors playing with the breeze into the hospital end dominated the opening half and were 0-12 to 0-5 to the good at the short whistle.
Thomas McGovern got the scoreboard working, the lively Stephen Carton (2), a two pointer from Sean Tyrell and four from the boot of Andy Tormey gave the 2024 winners a 0-10 to 0-2 lead after 20 minutes. A two pointer from Caolan Ward and one from Kyle Moran kept a disjointed Tones in the game as Donaghmore Ashbourne went to the dressing room 0-12 to 0-5 in front.
Wolfe Tones made a good start to the second half with another two pointer from Ward and one from Thomas O’Reilly but their good work was in vain as Thomas McGovern got the games only goal from the penalty spot after five minutes. Timmy O’Regan’s men still had control of matters after forty minutes, leading 1-14 to 0-11 but from there on Tones dominated. The holders failed to score for the remainder of the game, Wolfe Tones on the other hand found their grove kicking ten points without reply. Thomas O’Reilly pointed a free, two two pointers from Dan O’Neill and another brilliant effort off the ground from Ward sent Wolfe Tones on their way to their first ever Feis Cup title.
