Moynalty 4-11 Ratoath 5-6
Moynalty welcomed Ratoath to North Meath for round 4 of the LMFM Minor Tournament. The lads were hoping to bounce back after defeat to St. Pats last week.
The game started at a fast pace as both teams exchanged goals in the first 5 minutes, Eoin Gilsenan netting for Moynalty. Despite Ratoath putting the Moynalty defence under early pressure, Moynalty who were aided by a strong breeze, began to take control of the game, as Leo Kavanagh and David Daly dominated in midfield. For the remainder of the half Moynalty played some excellent football, with great team moves resulting in another Gilsenan goal and points from Bobby Kavanagh, Danny Gorman, Ewan Gilsenan and Aaron Lynch, leaving the lads up by 7 at half time with the scoreboard reading Moynalty 2:09 Ratoath 2:02.
Ratoath started the second half brightly with the wind and soon had the lead down to 1 point. A well worked team goal finished by Ewan Gilsenan kept Moynalty in the lead. Ratoath put pressure on to hit back, however great defending from Sean Cassidy and Andrew Carolan kept the Ratoath attack out. Moynalty soon opened up a 6 point gap again as Eoin Gilsenan scored his third goal of the night. A late Ratoath goal left for a nervy finish but the lads dug in and held on for an impressive win.
Up next is a trip to Walterstown for the final game of the group stage on April 28th.
