Brendan Davis Cup: Holders use 25 players and make a winning start

Kildalkey 3-24  Longwood 2-10

After receiving a walkover in round 1 Kildalkey senior hurlers got their year up and running at a cold but dry Longwood.

Both teams were short a number of first team players for this fixture but had replacements eager to impress both managements.

Kildalkey got off the mark from a Niall McNally point further points from Paddy Conneely (5), Conor Fitzgerald, Mc Nally, Nicky Potterton, Luke Rickard and Kevin Mckeon while Ross Flynn was on the end of a move to put the ball into the net for a goal to bring their tally to 1-12 at half time but Longwood we’re hanging in and they finished with 1-7 for the half at the break.

Paddy Conneely, Luke Rickard and Niall McNally got the first 3 points on the restart while Conneely got in for a goal the next 5 scores came from Evan Fitzgerald and 4 from Coneely who Longwood found hard to handl. Mickey Burke got in behind the defence for a Longwood goal but the men in Blue finished with a flourish as a goal and a point from the lively Nicky Potterton and white flags from Evan Fitzgerald and 2 Conneely frees to bring their tally to 3-24 to Longwood a 2-10 to get a win in their first win  of the year and also got game time for 25 players.
