Trim 1-11 Gaeil Colmcille 3-12

Coming off a loss to St. Colmcille’s in Round 8, Gaeil Colmcille bounced back with a seven-point victory over Trim thanks to a hat-trick of goals from Ajay Tormey.  

With the game being played at St. Loman’s Park, it was the home side Trim that got the better start thanks to two points from frees in the 1st and 3rd minute. An Ajay Tormey point in the 4th minute got The Gaeils on the board and three minutes later Seamus Mattimoe levelled things up with a point from play.  

Ferguson brothers Fionn and Liam got Kells next two scores to see them lead by double scores 0-04 to 0-02 and 11 minutes played. A Barry Farrelly free pushed Gaeil Colmcille three clear and things got better when Ajay Tormey got the game's opening goal of the game to open a six-point lead for the visitors.  

Mattimoe added a mark and Rian Early pointed in the 18th minute after the layoff from Mattimoe. Trim never lay down and hit the next four points in a row to leave the score 1-07 to 0-06 with 25 minutes played. As Trim grew with confidence in the game a second goal for Tormey and Kells pushed Kells seven clear. Trim did manage to get the last score of the half as Kells led 2-07 to 0-07 at the break.  

Trim got the perfect start to the second half when they hit an unstoppable goal with just over 60 seconds played to cut the lead to three points. A fisted point from Evan Sheridan kept two scores between the sides. The sides traded the next four scores as James Reilly made a lung bursting run which ended in a point and a Hanlon point kept the scoreboard ticking for The Gaeils.  

Four frees, two from either side as Hanlon and Farrelly pointed for Kells left Gaeil Colmcille 2-12 to 1-11 ahead with 8 minutes remaining. As the Kells backs stood strong thanks to some last-ditch tackles including a big hit from Barry Tormay maintained the Gaeils held on to their lead. The victory was secured in the 60th minute when Tormey got his and Kells third goal of the game to see Gaeil Colmcille close out a seven-point win 3-12 to 1-11.
