Tributes have been flowing since the news of two-time All-Ireland winning manager John O’Mahony’s passing broke this morning.
The Mayo native died at the age of 71 after a long battle with illness and among those to lead the tributes to him thus far have been Taoiseach Simon Harris, Tánaiste Micheál Martin and the Gaelic Players Association.

John O'Mahony changed the face of Connacht football. guiding Mayo to an All-Ireland final in 1989, managing Galway to All-Ireland wins in 1998 & 2001 and ending Leitrim's long wait for a second Connacht title in 1994. Above all he was a gentleman. May he rest in peace #gaa

John was a proud Ballaghaderreen and Mayo man who did so much to restore faith and pride in football in the West of Ireland.
