Geraldines fought back from three points down with 10 minutes remaining to claim victory over St Patricks in the Group 4 clash at Dowdallshill on Sunday afternoon.

Jim McEneaney and Shane O'Hanlon were the heroes for the Haggardstown side as the former kicked four points to edge his team ahead before the latter landed to late points to secure victory for his side.

O'Hanlon also scored the only goal of the game on 19 minutes which proved to be the difference between the teams at the final whistle.

In a very close opening quarter, the teams shared six points with O'Hanlon, McEneaney and Josh Arrowsmith on target for the Gers, while Cathal Grogan, Daragh Lafferty and Paddy Keenan responded for the Pats.

The Lordship men then edged ahead for the first time through Danny O'Connor but their joy was short-lived as O'Hanlon pounced for the only goal of the game. That score ensured that the Gers went in at the break leading by 1-5 to 0-6.

That lead was wiped out within four minutes of the restart thanks to scores from Aidan McCann and Eoin O'Connor. Boosted by those scores the Pats began to dominate and with Danny O'Connor to the fore, they went 0-14 to 1-8 with 50 minutes of the clock.

At that stage it was looking good for the Pats but as has been their habit this year, they failed to finish a game off from a winning position and the Gers hit back, with McEneaney and O'Hanlon ensuring they came out on top by three points.
