Mayo remain top of Division 3A in the Allianz Hurling League after recording their fourth win in-a-row at the expense of Louth this afternoon.
It finished 0-28 to 0-13 at the Connacht GAA Centre of Excellence in Bekan, where the visitors held their own for the opening half-hour or so before the league leaders cut loose.
The Westerners took in a 0-15 to 0-8 half-time lead and cruised in the second-half, with Cormac Phillips (0-11) and Liam Lavin (0-6) starring up front for them.
In Markievicz Park, Sligo chalked up their third win by seeing off Monaghan (2-23 to 1-20) to keep the heat on Mayo ahead of their meeting next weekend.
Eddie O’Donoghue and Tomás Cawley bagged the Yeats men’s goals on route to the six-point win which puts them within a point of their fellow Connacht men heading into Saturday’s showdown at Markievicz Park (1pm).
