Dublin ensured there’d be no upset at Croke Park this afternoon as they crushed Louth with a 5-21 to 0-15 victory in the Leinster senior football championship final.

Dessie Farrell’s men didn’t look back in this one from the moment Paul Mannion struck in their first goal in the 22nd minute, as it moved them towards a commanding 1-12 to 0-6 half-time lead.

Louth had actually settled into their first provincial decider since 2010 in good fashion, with Sam Mulroy’s hat-trick of points (two frees) having them 0-3 to 0-2 in front after 11 minutes at headquarters.

The holders soon got to grips with them though and surged four points clear before deliver the first hammer blow to Mickey Harte’s men via Mannion’s palmed goal.

James McCarthy would find the net within 10 minutes of the restart for the Dubs and they’d continue to rip through Louth’s rear-guard and added further goals from Sean Bulger, Paddy Small and Colm Basquel to win out by 21 points in the end.

The victory marks an incredible Dublin’s 13th consecutive Delaney Cup for the capital men as they now look forward to an All-Ireland SFC round 1 meeting with Roscommon at Croker in a fortnight’s time, with Louth away to Cork on the same weekend.
