Sam Mulroy insists Louth won't be going to Croke Park on Sunday week to play Dublin just to make up the numbers.

The Wee County are back in their Leinster final for the first time since their infamous 2010 loss to Meath and have their sights set on ending Dublin's 12-year stranglehold on the Delaney Cup.

"Why would we want to be the second team? That's where my head is at. I don't think anybody wants to be the second best," the star forward told the media after last Sunday's semi-final extra-time win over Offaly.

"We have a massive, massive test. So for us to even think of being close to the best is a long way away."

The Naomh Mairtin clubman scored 1-4 in Louth's quarter-final comeback win over Westmeath and 0-5 in extra-time against Offaly, despite suffering a Grade 2 hamstring tear against Kildare in the Allianz League on March 5.

“I’m probably really ahead of time — I shouldn’t be playing," he admitted.

“It was supposed to be a 12-week hamstring injury and we managed to get it down to seven. So I’m risking it.”
