Limerick midfielder Darragh O'Donovan was not impressed by the throw-in delay to this evening’s All-Ireland SHC semi-final.
The crunch clash at Croke Park had been scheduled to throw-in at 5pm but was pushed back by half-an-hour due to major delays on the M7 motorway in Kildare.
A lorry carrying a number of hay bales collided into a flyover bridge, scattering a number of bales onto the Naas Road, where the tailback was at least 10 kilometres and included supporters travelling to the game at GAA headquarters.
Both teams had arrived at the stadium well in advance of the original 5pm throw-in time but, speaking to RTE Sport after the game, it was clear that O’Donovan was not happy about the delay.
"I think the 30-minute delay probably affected both teams," he said
"Players should be put first in that instance, 4 points to 3 in an All-Ireland semi-final after 18 minutes.
"It affected both teams, it’s very unfair and it’s just as unfair on Waterford."
On the game itself, he added: "I suppose we could have had a couple of goals in the first-half. We didn’t score goals in the Championship last year, we’re getting a few this year and goals win games."
