St. Kieran’s GAA

The 2020 St. Kieran’s GAA AGM took place on Friday evening last. Given the Covid 19 restrictions on mass indoor gatherings we were forced to adapt with the times and the event took place online through Microsoft team. Many thanks to Ian Mackessy who ensured that event ran smoothy and all participants were able to obtain access and log into the meeting. Despite the change in format we had an excellent crowd in attendance which was very positive as Chairman David Woulfe and Secretary Ivan Neary welcomed everyone in attendance and produced their respective addresses following the 2020 campaign. Both gave thorough accounts of the 2020 season on and off the field and thanked everyone who helped run the club in what has been a very challenging season for all club members. The chairman thanked the various management teams for their efforts during the past year and wished all the new management teams for the 2021 season the best of luck and hopefully we can have a successful 2021 season. Treasurer Tom Harnett produced a very healthy financial report for the season gone and hopefully we will be able to hold some form of fundraiser next season as we were unable to hold our Oskars night this year unfortunately. We hope to be able to hold our traditional charity road hurling competition this Christmas on December 27 if current Covid 19 restrictions are lifted and we move back into level 3. Obviously if we are to host what is one of the most enjoyable days in our GAA calendar social distancing guidelines will have to be implemented to ensure the safety of all participants. Many thanks to all you who have contributed to the running of the club in this past year. It goes without saying that 2020 has been a challenging year for everyone both on and off the field, we can look forward into 2021 with optimism and hope for brighter and more fruitful days.
