Former Laois midfielder Brendan Quigley has taken his first step into management with his native Timahoe.

Quigley takes over from Tom McKittrick, who stepped down following Timahoe’s exit from this year’s Laois IFC at the hands of Annanough. It was Annanough’s first championship win over their neighbours in 57 years.

Quigley first came to prominence as a member of Laois’ 2003 All-Ireland MFC winning team before going on to represent his county at senior level from 2006 to ’19. He made his senior championship debut under Mick O’Dwyer after a short spell in the AFL with the Brisbane Lions whom he and fellow Laois man Colm Begley signed for on international rookie contracts.

In all, he made 43 championship appearances for the O’Moore County.
