Portarlington made their goals count as they saw off Portlaoise by 3-13 to 0-13 at Laois Hire O’Moore Park this afternoon to clinch a fourth Laois SFC title in five years.
The victors hit two of their goals in the final quarter to close out their nine-point victory which sealed a 16th Jack Delaney Cup success for their club.
Jake Foster’s goal in the 21st minute was what separated the sides at half-time (1-9 to 0-9), and Pat Roe’s men would be 1-13 to 0-11 in front when Darragh Galvin hammered in their second goal in the 46th minute.
Portlaoise got points back through Josh Hogan and DJ White frees but their hopes of a first SFC crown since 2019 would be up in smoke once Colm Murphy got in for the game’s third goal with three minutes left in normal time.
