Death of Laois GAA stalwart Alan Langton

Laois GAA has led the tributes to well-known administrator Alan Langton who died suddenly on St Patrick’s Day.

Aged just 52, the father-of-three was a stalwart of the Barrowhouse club near Athy who had two terms as chairman of Laois Coiste na nÓg. He is survived by his wife Linda, sons Fergus, Cillian and Hugh, parents Christy and Marie, brothers Gary, Adrian, Paul and Leon, sister Catherine, relatives and friends.

“Laois GAA would like to send its deepest condolences to the family and friends of Alan Langton, who tragically passed away at the weekend,” a social media post read.

“Alan was the current County Committee Delegate for his beloved club Barrowhouse. He also served two terms on the Laois GAA management committee as chairperson of Coiste na nÓg.

“Alan will be forever remembered as a devoted supporter of Laois GAA. Honest, hard-working and good-natured; he was a man who led by his actions and his passing will be a source of great pain for many Laois Gaels.

“On behalf of everyone in Laois GAA, I would like to wish his wife Linda and sons Fergus, Cillian and Hugh our most sincere condolences at this difficult time. May they be comforted in knowing that we will never forget Alan.

“Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.”
