Carlow maintained their winning form in Division 2A of the Allianz Hurling League this evening by handing fellow promotion hopefuls Laois a 1-23 to 0-21 defeat at O’Moore Park.
Scott Tracey’s 24th minute goal saw the Barrowsiders into a lead that they’d never relinquish in Portlaoise, as his strike saw them surge 1-7 to 0-7 in front and go on to take a nine-point advantage in the second-half before winning out by seven in the end.
In Division 2B, Aidy Kelly’s late point secured a 1-17 to 0-20 draw for Tyrone against neighbours Donegal in Omagh.
The points of Gerard Gilmore had helped the visitors hold a 0-18 to 0-14 leading going into the game’s final stretch, but a goal from Seamus Sweeney brought the Red Hands on the cusp and Kelly’s 10th point late would snatch them a share of the spoils.
Elsewhere, Fermanagh moved to the top of the Division 3B table after securing their second win of the league campaign on a 1-19 to 2-5 scoreline against visiting Warwickshire while Leitrim got their first victory against Lancashire (2-18 to 0-17) in Carrick-on-Shannon.
