Paul Kingston of Laois celebrates

Laois produced the second-half goods to see off Carlow by 2-14 to 0-9 at O’Moore Park and record their third successive win in Division 4 of the Allianz Football League.

After falling 0-5 to 0-0 behind in the opening 23 minutes, the O’Moore men steadied their ship to trail by just one point at half-time and hit the front early in the resumption via the points of Shaun Fitzpatrick (2) and Paul Kingston.

Damon Larkin’s 46th minute goal would make it a double scores game (1-9 to 0-6) before Kevin Swayne found the Carlow net in the closing quarter to cement the come from behind win for Laois.

In Ballygunner, Longford were made dig deep against Waterford for their first win of the campaign (0-16 to 0-13).

Tom O’Connell’s point had the hosts 0-9 to 0-8 ahead at half-time, but the second-half would see them enter into a 20-minute scoring drought as scores by Darren Gallagher, Paddy Kiernan and Mark Hughes were enough for the Midlanders in the end.
