Shane Ronayne has been named as the new Cork senior ladies football manager just days after stepping down as Waterford senior men's boss.

The Mitchelstown native's appointment was ratified for a three-year term at a county board meeting last night. He succeeds Ephie Fitzgerald who spent six years at the helm before the position was advertised earlier this month.

Ronayne previously managed Tipperary to All-Ireland ladies football intermediate wins in 2017 and '19, and also guided Mourneabbey to back-to-back All-Ireland club titles in 2018 and '19.

"Following a meeting of Cork LGFA, the full executive and board have ratified Shane Ronayne as Cork senior football manager," a Cork LGFA statement read.

"He was ratified for a term of three years. We wish Shane, his background team and players the very best of luck. We wish to thank all those who took part in the selection process. And to Ephie Fitzgerald and his background team, we thank you for all your hard work and dedication to the Cork senior team over the past six years."
