A recent charity match between Kerry GAA and soccer greats raised over €39,000.

The match was in aid of four-year-old Alex Fitzgerald from Tralee, who is battling cancer. Alex has received intensive treatment since last September and doctors are currently harvesting his stem cells as he will need a bone-marrow transplant in the future.

The game at Mounthawk Park saw former Kerry GAA stars like Maurice Fitzgerald, Darran O’Sullivan, Barry John Keane, Aidan O’Mahony and Seamus Scanlan line out against local soccer legends such as Billy Dennehy, Steven O’Mahony, Chris Kerins, James Sugrue and Steven and David Conway, who won 4-0.
