Death of famous Galway football freetaker Cyril Dunne

Another link with the famous Galway three-in-a-row team of the mid-1960s has been severed with the passing of Cyril Dunne.
Aged 83, Cyril was the freetaker and wing forward on the team that won All-Ireland SFC titles in 1964, '65 and '66. The Ballinasloe clubman scored a combined 16 points in the three finals, including nine against Kerry in '64, four against Kerry in '65 and three against Meath in '66.
His father John 'Tull' Dunne was the trainer of that great team. Cyril's other honours included six Connacht SFC medals and one National League.
Cyril's passing comes just a few weeks after that of his team-mate and legendary full back Noel Tierney at the age of 82
