New Galway senior hurling manager Henry Shefflin has bolstered his backroom team with the additions of Damien Joyce and Kevin Lally.

It was confirmed last month that Shefflin would succeed Shane O’Neill as the Tribesmen men’s new supremo, with fellow Kilkenny native Richie O’Neill being the first confirmed member of his backroom team.

Now, the Galway county board has announced that former Galway captain Joyce will be part of the new management team along with Lally, who steered St Thomas' to three successive county titles between 2018 and 2020.

Meanwhile, the board also confirmed that former All-Ireland-winning minor manager Brian Hanley is set to take over as Galway hurling U20 manager after having been recommended for a three-year term and is expected to be ratified at the next management committee meeting.
