Surprised that reports are saying Rory Kavanagh is taking over the under 17's with Gary Boyle already ratified with the twenties again. Where does that leave Karl Lacey? Joining up with Jim and the seniors perhaps? panamasam (Australia) - Posts: 2973 - 03/11/2026 22:56:48 2699380 Link 0 |

Spider it's more of the glenties being able to keep there main players at home, that's my point, that GD team was only after winning Ulster u21 and was meant to be the backbone of their team!

What's people opinion on St Eunans at the weekend or will the erin men cause an upset ? TheYankman (USA) - Posts: 9 - 04/11/2026 07:29:25 2699384 Link 0 |

Think Eunan's will be cautious of this game. They have lost their last 2 Ulster games in the first round when they should have won them and look where those teams ended up. I can't see the Erne men being able to shackle Shane, Conor Junior and McGeehin.

I looked back at the NC & Eunans game thought it was great game and good spectacle , Eunans seemed better around middle and won a lot of dirty ball . NC were were very wasteful but missing there two key men was massive loss to any team but they will be back no doubt . I also Thought the match officials had an excellent 60 minutes. and neither side can have any complaints about how it was managed

I was told 2 years ago that the plan all along was Lacey to take over from Jim. Now maybe that has changed but I doubt it.

I think that has been the general feeling in the county. What's changed since though is that Mark has gone and toppled the (albeit not as strong) Dubs and landed a Leinster title with a lower ranked team in his first year in intercounty management. peiledoir20 (Donegal) - Posts: 1764 - 05/11/2026 10:49:59 2699475 Link 0 |

I still think Lacey would hold far more sway with the players. McHugh doing well but jumping from job to job and personality wise likes to chat into a microphone. But his dad is heavily involved in the background with all aspects of how things are running within the county so who knows?

As someone on the outside and not being aware of how various managers and coaches are working on the ground I am wondering apart from being a great footballer what would make Lacey a good replacement for Jim if he doesn't continue in the job.

You mentioned personality - in a way he reminds me of your own Andy Moran in a way, bundles of energy, very passionate (and shrewd) about the game and he isn't afraid to call it as he sees it. Time will tell though, two good enough homegrown candidates to have. peiledoir20 (Donegal) - Posts: 1764 - 05/11/2026 13:38:37 2699495 Link 0 |

What has Lacey done to prove his worth. Was his time with Donegal successful as in the teams he had. He won with kilcoo but that isn't that impressive in the grand scheme of things with the domination they had. Beolive92 (Donegal) - Posts: 17 - 05/11/2026 16:40:16 2699514 Link 0 |
