Replying To ElGranSenor:  "I see Enniscorthy CBS beat Peter's by 1-14 to 0-11 in Junior hurling"
Seen that. Marys were missing a couple too I think.
FCJ beat them in the Leinster 2nd year B Football.
Creagh College had a couple wins in Junior C.
Adamstown had a couple wins in D, 2nd year and Junior.
Its getting busier with the schools now.

Replying To Pikeman96:  "I agree too, but just a point about the "too much democracy", because there's a certain irony to be considered here.

May well be bad that there's "too much democracy" if the likes of Longford and Louth have equal say right now on a hurling championship that doesn't even affect them or involve them. But if we're ever to get the sort of "real" All-Ireland Championship that many here propose, with mixed groups of Munster teams and Leinster teams, then we'd be relying to "too much democracy" to make it happen as well.

Would require a change at Congress and you can be sure that at least five Munster counties would be absolutely 100% set against anything that might dilute the Munster Championship itself. But the rub is that every other county and the overseas delegations and everyone else with a vote there would have the same voting rights too.

So as long we had enough of the likes of Fermanagh and Leitrim and New York and the Middle East supporting it, the five Munster counties wouldn't have a hope of stopping it.

How's that for too much democracy???!!!!"
Would Munster council not be able to torpedo it before it got to congress?

Replying To StoreysTash:  "And here's how this will play out.

Leinster counties will continue to get annihilated by Munster counties. As happened this year in All-Ireland series bar Cork bottling it again.

Leinster gets weaker, weaker and weaker. We're all of a sudden 20 years since a Leinster county has won an All-Ireland.

When are we as a province going to say "We cannot do all the hurling promotion while combining it with an act of self-sabotage. We've expanded our underage, and our senior championships and all we're doing is hurting our own chances of winning Leinster by accommodating counties without a snowballs chance in hell of winning an All-Ireland".

The time to shout STOP is now. Its ruining everybody while the Munster counties laugh at us. We can't allow this to continue."
But sure what was the end goal for Munster top brass since 2013, how can we stop Kilkenny being so dominant?

Lets first bring in a hybrid game of hurling alien to Kilkenny by getting PHD qualified coaches from a football background (Paul Kinnerk) and play football-hurling as we know Kilkenny won't be able to live with this eventually.

Then dillute their championship with second tier teams, you don't see the Munster championship inviting in Galway, Kerry etc? They done everything in their power to make sure Kerry couldn't get in.

No. So long as a motion was properly submitted and worded, neither Munster Council nor anybody else could stop it from going on the clár there.

What they could do is lobby the people preparing the motion to not submit it at all, or to withdraw it. And if that didn't work, to try rally enough troops to vote against it. But they wouldn't have a veto to stop it going there in the first place.

Much like how if your club wanted to submit a motion to County Convention that would impact five or six other clubs far more than others. Those five or six could try get you to withdraw it, or try get others to vote against it, but they couldn't block it in the first place.

Or even if you wanted to put in some crazy motion yourself to your club AGM. Others might try persuade you not to do it, but so long as you submitted it properly, it'd have to go there all right.

By the way, side note to my last post is that you'd have to consider Leinster Council would probably be against any such proposal as well, even if some or most or all of Leinster counties were individually in favour of it.

They (Leinster Council) would be out to "protect the heritage of our championship and the Bob O'Keeffe Cup". Not to mention the revenue from it!

Very disappointing to hear a local business has gone into liquidation and I am sure it will have a serious impact on some clubs who would of given money as deposits for hurling walls, astros, pitches etc. Hopefully they can recoup any funds and continue to try and develop there club grounds. I can think of 5/6 clubs across GAA/Soccer who will be impacted by this, I am sure there is a lot more!

Long and detailed post from Bunclody AFC on their issues - one of quite a few clubs. I dealt with said company both as a Supplier and Purchaser over the past 12-18 months. Alarm bells did start to ring in my head .. very small invoices taking 3+ months to be paid on one end but demands for large deposits for materials on the other end .. Work in our club were completed … probably 6 months behind though .. but completed .. it's a pity as they were very involved with local clubs and were always supporting GAA / Camogie / Soccer

Counsels Junior team not good this year, most of the best players on last years good Junior team were up to the age.
Good to see Peters got a result against Marys Mullingar. I thought the 2 Marys were the strongest teams in that group at the outset.

Who is the best team we have competing in the grade? Could we actually win something in the near future with the schools? This is where we are falling down the most I feel.

Maybe Counsel, Enniscorthy CBS, or the Combined Colleges in Senior A but that's next season rather than this season, I would say

Yeah, Mullingar CBS seem to be strong at all levels across all code, Mullingar isn't a hurling stronghold by any means but the surrounding areas are the hurling heartlands of Westmeath

Think it has to be looked at in a joined up way. Young lads spend an equal amount of time in days per year with their clubs and schools. Clubs in general have upped their game, most club underage teams seem to be training twice a week with a game every week, while most secondary schools in Wexford arent. And National Schools are generally doing even less, with a few notable exceptions.
Our Secondary schools could definitely improve on the field if they trained more often, but equally a lads formative years are generally at the club. If the clubs dont get the basics right then our schools are starting out behind other schools in areas/counties where their clubs are doing more or better work from u8 to u12.

I am always amazed that when businesses go bust they are taking orders right up until the last minute knowing that a reckoning is coming - perhaps thats human nature, always thinking the big deal that will save the business is just around the corner. In big corporations that's not one individual and it feels impersonal but in this case its very different. The dividing line between poor business practices and fraudulent practices can be very grey. I don't understand your pity, pity about what, the fact that they have left people high and dry or that the GAA etc won't be getting money from someone who has now left others in a disastrous situation - perhaps all those that were sponsored should consider returning the money they received if that money was effectively stolen from others.

Very true I don't blame the organisations receiving the sponsorship I d imagine there were a few promises made that were nt fulfilled either .
Wexfird iark had removed the sign weeks ago do it must bmve been coming to a head a while .
U would feel for the small man left high and dry .
Looking at mounting debt and vist during to someone else's mismanagement .
I certainly would be prepared to donate zo a go fund me fir sny individuals that are at a loss they can't sustain .
Might be a way our gaa community can help out. If someone could get the ball rolling but only proven individual cases need apply and not ltd companies .
Clubs will recover. Individusls with dependant families won't.

Any club players, regular county players aside, show up well in club championships?

Only a subjective opinion obviously-
-Oisin Foley seemed to be carrying Crossabeg on his back
-Joe Barrett composed as usual
-Conor Firman reads the game so well
-Conal Flood knee seems to be holding up well
-Cathal Doyle only played one game as he was injured but scored 2-11 in the relegation final
-Charlie Mooney moves and hurls well for a lad his size
-Daire Barden back from Oz and improved game on game
-Jim White solid at the back for Oylegate
-Michael Dundon stood out in all the Clongeen games I saw this year.
-Seanie O'Neill seems to have found another gear since the knockouts started
-Oisin Hayes workrate massively improved over the last year and good on frees
-Tomas O'Connor settling in well after his move up from Kerry
-Barry Hassey inspirational big lad
-David Dunne different gravy at Intermediate

Saying all that doesn't mean they would neccessarily succeed at intercounty, or even want to play intercounty at all.

Some of the lads who stood out to me for their age would be u20s next year, Oisin Moore, Colin Carley, Jamie Kennedy, Ryan Doran, Conor Fanning, Sean Hyland, Ian Reilly.
