As big a win as it was Roscommon bridging a 7 year gap doesn't hold that historical weight. Murtagh also has to find his way past David Clifford, Darrah Beirne, Kobe McDonald and potentially Ryan O'Donoghue. That's two FOTY nominees and two YFOTY nominees, even Dylan Geaney won't get a look in and he was in FOTY nominee form up to and including the QF. Congratulations to Roscommon county footballer on winning a GOLD medal for Ireland this evening in the European Elite Boxing Championships in Sofia this evening. This was an amazing achievement for Lisa as she was boxing at a new weight (80KG) for the first time. Her sister Aoife who is a double Olympian and going for her fourth consecutive European gold medal will box tomorrow night in the 75kg final. (The only two Irish boxers to box for GOLD) These two outstanding boxers do not get the credit they deserve on the National Stage. To put some of their achievements into perspective, only six Irish boxers have won GOLD medals at the BOXING WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS. (Where only the very best compete and win!) * Katie Taylor (Multiple Winner) * Michael Conlon (2015) * Kellie Harrington (2018) * Amy Broadhurst (2022) * LISA O' ROURKE (2022) * AOIFE O' ROURKE (2025) If they stay injury free and both qualify, they both have to be very strong medal prospects in the Olympic Games in Los Angeles in 2028. As they come from a farming background how CONNACHT GOLD, KerryGold, Glanbia etc... marketing managers do not see their marketing potential is mind boggling to me. Tomás Gilleran the new Roscommon U17 manager taking over from Shane Moran after two successful campaigns. Tomás a St Dominic's man manged his own club to Intermediate county success in 2022 and has been a coach/selector as part of Cian Smith U20 management this year. And Dublin usually got 1 no matter how badly they did." There have been 17 years since the All Stars introduction where Dublin didn't get an all star…2005 was the last year they didn't pick up one. Mayo will overtake Tyrone this year in 4th position and only a handful off Cork in third. Kerry and Dublin lead the way. You have to be consistently performing at the business end of the championship to get an all star. Croke Park football from quarter final onwards is different. Senior hurling final in two weeks will be Four Roads v St Dominics. A repeat of the 2024 final where Dominics led by 10 points only for a late scoring surge by Four Roads got them over the line. Today Four Roads beat Oran by 1 with the last puck of the game and Dominics won by 8 against Termane. Dominics in July beat Four Roads by 5 points can they beat them again to become county champions for the first time since 1999 or will Four Roads win the county title for the 5th year in a row? Four Roads with the win in the first semi. A high quality entertaining game with Four Roads always ahead in a real championship semi final knockout to game. Coyle and Morris brothers to the fore for Four Roads. The Husseys and Fallon best for an Oran side who arguably deserved a draw and an extra time battle. Four Roads by a whisker. One point enough to book them their place. Tremane v Doms was a very turgid error ridden game first half. With Tremane turning in half time level with a strong breeze it looked like their goose was cooked. Tremane were still the better team into the second half and should have went further ahead before three fire goals turned the contest in favour of the Knockcroghery/Bally Murray/Rahara men. Evan Murray, Mahoney brothers, Peadar Kellehan to the fore for Tremane.
